The Hughestown Hose Company will be holding our Annual All You Can Eat Pig Roast. This years event will begin at 4:00pm on Sunday, September 5th, and will be held on the Hughestown Hose Company Grounds. Food will be provided by Crystel's Catering and live entertainment will be available throughout the night. Children 11 and under are free and the cost of an adult ticket is $20. Tickets will be available on the day of the event or can be purchased from any hose company member prior to the event.  Attention Convention Visitors: KME, your Pennsylvania Fire Apparatus Manufacturer is sponsoring an Open House Tour of their factory on Friday, September 24th, 2010. This is a great opportunity for all convention visitors to take a hands-on look at KME World Headquarters. Transportation will be provided Free of Charge from the convention headquarters in Wilkes Barre to KME World Headquarters (approx. 50 miles away) in Nesquehoning, PA. Those wishing to attend should click "Read More" below and pre-register in order for transportation to be arranged.

Training is being offered, free of charge to firefighters attending the 2010 FASP in Hanover Township... Classes will be held at Luzerne County Community College's Public Safety Training Institute at 1333 S. Prospect St. in Nanticoke, PA 18634. There will also be an open house of the PSTI at LCCC throughout the day. Two classes are being offered on Friday, Sept. 24th, 2010:
"Drive to Survive" Training @ 10:00am (~3 hours); Instructor Chris Daly.
"RIT-C" @ 1:00pm (~3 hours); Instructor TBA.

The Hanover Township Fire Department of Luzerne County, PA will be hosting the 131st Annual Convention of the Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania. The convention will take place on Wednesday, September 22nd through Saturday, September 25th. The guest headquarters is the Ramada Inn on Public Square in Wilkes Barre City. Convention events include a golf tournament, a large parade, memorial services, fire station open houses, as well as a luau & pig roast. The public is encouraged to attend & support all convention events, as proceeds from all events benefit the Hanover Township Fire Department. Hundreds of fire departments from across the state are planning on attending the events, and they will participate in a large parade from the Lee Park Section to the Breslau Section. As apparatus and parade display will be professionally judged during the parade, more than 50 categories of awards will be presented afterwards.
